James Lehman, M.D., MBA, CPE, FACP, FACPE

Areas of Responsibility: Quality, patient safety, and risk management, including Joint Commission survey readiness and compliance, core measures, safety initiatives and patient satisfaction.
Bio: Board certified in internal medicine and medical management, Dr. Lehman was in private medical practice in Clinton, Iowa for a dozen years before being named Director of Medical Affairs for Genesis predecessor Mercy Hospital in Davenport. He moved into his current position when Mercy and St. Luke's were consolidated to form Genesis Health System in 1994. Dr. Lehman serves on numerous health-related community boards including School Health Link, MEDIC Ambulance and sits on the executive committees of Tobacco Free QC and the Quad City Health Initiative. He also is a trained examiner for the Iowa Quality Center's Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence award program.
Dr. Lehman completed his undergraduate studies at Iowa State University where he earned a bachelor's in psychology. He holds a medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. In addition, Dr. Lehman has an MBA from St. Ambrose University and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Physician Executives. Lehman and his wife, Kay, have two children, Robin and Melissa.
