Areas of Responsibility: Neuroscience, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Cancer Care Institute. Also responsible for four support areas: Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, Imaging and Laboratory.

Bio:  Dr. Nelson joined Genesis in 2003 as Director of Surgical Services for GMC Davenport and was named Vice President, Clinical Services for the hospital in 2005. Dr. Nelson received his bachelor's degree in Biology (cum laude) from The University of Detroit and his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1976. He received his MBA (in finance) from California State University. Dr. Nelson began his healthcare career in Detroit, Michigan. After completing his surgical residency at Wayne State University Affiliated Hospitals he joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. During his tenure at the Detroit Medical Center he assumed many clinical and administrative responsibilities among those; President of the Medical Staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital, Vice Chief of Surgery and Head of the Emergency Surgery/Trauma Division III, Residency Coordinator overseeing 60 General Surgery residents and Chairmen of Quality Assurance and Medical Records. He continued his career in California and South Carolina and was the Medical Director/Administrator of Perioperative Services for the Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina. Dr. Nelson and his wife Roxanna reside in LeClaire and have two daughters, Cara and Christina.
