Impact of a New Aphasia Diagnosis on Discharge Setting

The Impact of a New Aphasia Diagnosis on Discharge Setting

Objective

The purpose of this study is to retrospectively review medical records of patients who have been diagnosed with aphasia and:

  1. Determine the frequency with which those individuals with aphasia and minimal to no physical impairments (i.e. based on FIMS scores for transfers and locomotion) discharge to settings other than home, as compared to those with aphasia and concomitant physical impairments.
  2. Identify the type of the discharge facility (e.g., assisted living facility, skilled nursing facility)
