Mercer Foundation for Health Benefit Dinner Set for February 7th

The 21st Annual Mercer Foundation for Health Benefit Dinner and Auction has been set for Thursday, February 7th at the VFW Hall in Aledo. Social hour starts at 5:30 PM with appetizers and a cash bar, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM.

The Foundation has selected the theme "Construction Ahead" to celebrate the upcoming hospital renovation. Dress attire will be casual and the VFW will be decorated with construction signs and props.

Mercer Foundation for Health is partnering with the Aledo Meat Market to offer a delicious menu for the event. Justin will prepare smoked pork loins and the Dietary staff at Mercer County Hospital will prepare cole slaw, rosemary roasted red potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls and red velvet cake for dessert.

A silent and live auction will be held with many exciting bidding opportunities available. Generous members and businesses from the community have donated wonderful auction items like a hand braided wool rug, home made baked goods, certificates to local restaurants and businesses, overnight stay at local casinos, River Bandits and Mallards suite with admission tickets and snacks, photographs from talented local artists, flower arrangements, meat bundles and so much more.

Susan Sutton, Benefit Dinner Chairman, commented, "The Benefit Dinner is a fun, social event where we can support our local hospital. Each year, members and organizations of our community are very generous with table sponsorships, donating auction items, and purchasing tickets."

Proceeds from this year's Benefit Dinner will be used to help Mercer County Hospital purchase a GlideScope GVL System for the Emergency Department valued at $9,000. The GldeScope video laryngoscope provides a consistently clear, real-time view of either routine or difficult airways and tube placement, enabling quick intubation for all patients.

"Our community depends on the Emergency Department in their greatest time of need. It is imperative we have high quality medical technology to care for our patients," said Shelley Wiborg, Chief Nursing Officer."

Tickets are available for purchase at Country Companies/Mercer County Farm Bureau, La Belle Vie, McKnight Pharmacy, Mercer County Hospital, Stuts Drug Store, and Wagner Pharmacy.
