Mercer Foundation for Health Raises Over $12,000 at Benefit Dinner

Mercer Foundation for Health held its 21st Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction on February 7th at the VFW in Aledo. The event had over 150 people in attendance to enjoy a meal prepared by Genesis Medical Center's Dietary staff and Aledo Meat Market.

Twenty-one businesses and individuals sponsored and decorated tables in this year’s theme “Construction Ahead” to celebrate the upcoming hospital renovation.

Tables were judged and recognition was given in the following categories:
Best Use of Theme and tickets to next year's event – Matt and Kim DeBlock; 2nd place Genesis Senior Living, Aledo. Best Valentine Decoration – 1st place Titan Pro/Garst Seed, Evan Seefeld; 2nd place Aledo Meat Market.

Following the dinner, silent and live auctions were held to bid on items and services donated by members and businesses in the local community. Dale Jones and his team of professionals volunteered their auctioneering services at the live auction.

A new opportunity "Raise Your Paddle" was added at the end of the live auction in which participants could donate a monetary gift to support health care in the community.

"I am so thankful for this loving, caring community and for the support we have received tonight at the Benefit Dinner. We have an opportunity to enhance the health care we receive locally and together we can make great things happen," said Vicki Palmer, President, Mercer Foundation for Health.

The Benefit Dinner and Auction raised over $12,000 to purchase a fiberoptic laryngoscope for the Emergency Department and a Bovie cautery unit for the physician offices.

The fiberoptic laryngoscope enables a physician to see deeper in the throat and provides a consistently clear, real-time view of either routine or difficult airways and tube placement, enabling quick intubation for all patients.

The Bovie cautery unit is used to perform minor surgical procedures in an office setting. Common procedures performed at the clinic are mole removals and excisions.

Mercer Foundation for Health would like to thank the community for their continued support of local health care. A special thank you to the VFW, Benefit Dinner Committee, Dale Jones, Genesis Medical Center's Dietary and Maintenance staff for their help making the dinner a success.

To make a gift to support local health care, contact the Mercer Foundation for Health office at (309) 582-0970. All funds raised by the Foundation will be used to support health care in Mercer County.
