Routine Appointments

A physician referral is necessary to see Dr. Brooks and Dr. Meloy. It is NOT necessary to schedule an appointment with Dr. Taylor. Follow-up appointments may be scheduled by calling the clinic receptionist. You may be contacted by the nurse navigator to gather more information on your condition before an appointment is made.  

Late Arrivals & Cancellations

We will make an effort to accommodate you in the event of a late arrival to our clinic on the day of your appointment. However, it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment. We ask that you notify us as soon as possible if you are going to be late or will be canceling your appointment so that we may accommodate other patients who are waiting for an appointment.

Phone calls

We accept phone calls from 8 a.m.– 4 p.m., Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Friday. Phone calls about scheduling appointments can be handled by a receptionist. Phone calls regarding your care will be returned by a nurse as soon as possible. 

If you feel you are experiencing an emergency medical problem, you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Prescriptions

Refill requests should be made through your pharmacy. No request for medication refills will be accepted on Friday.

If you require a written prescription, you must allow enough time (5 days) for the prescription to be written for pick up at the Spine & Joint Health Center. For patients living outside the Quad City area, we can mail your prescription to your pharmacy with 7-10 days notice.

Medical Records Requests

There is a 7-10 day turn around time for requests for copies of records. Genesis Policy requires a pre-payment for records requested for non-medical purposes.

Billing

Regardless of insurance coverage, patients are ultimately responsible for payment of their medical bills. Genesis will bill your insurance company on your behalf and make every reasonable effort to obtain payment from your insurance company.

The Spine & Joint Health Center is an outpatient department of Genesis Medical Center. Billings are submitted as an outpatient hospital. Our doctors must submit a separate statement for their services.
