Professional Development Program
The Genesis Professional Development Program is designed to recognize, strengthen, promote and retain our registered nurses through growth in the following areas:
- Expert Practice
- Professionalism
- Role Model/Leadership
- Evidence-based Practice
- Education
All clinical registered nurses at Genesis are part of the Professional Development Program. Advancement through the program is voluntary.
Clinical Nurse(CN) I:
An entry level position for the nurse pending completion of orientation and validation of his/her patient care area competencies. Skill level is beginner or advanced beginner.
Clinical Nurse(CN) II:
Nurse whose clinical practice is consistent with requirements and competencies outlined in his/her job description. Skill level is competent.
Clinical Nurse (CN) III and Clinical Nurse (CN III) Charge:
Nurse with 2 years experience and certification in area of specialty (having or working towards a baccalaureate in nursing is an alternative to certification). A nurse who demonstrates proficiency in complex clinical skills, and is accountable for additional role responsibilities in areas such as leadership, quality, safety and/or education within his/her patient care area Skill level is proficient.
Clinical Nurse (CN) IV and Clinical Nurse (CN IV) Charge (CN IV) Educator:
- Nurse with 2 years experience with:baccalaureate in nursing and certification in area of specialty,
- or bachelor's degree in nursing working towards master's degree in nursing,
- or bachelor's degree in other related field with certification in area of specialty and working towards master's degree in nursing,
