Register online here or bring a copy of registration form to Learning/Development - West Campus, Genesis Medical Center, 1227 E. Rusholme St., Davenport, IA 52803 with a check payable to "Genesis Medical Center."

Employees who will have fee charged to Department with Manager approval may register in Healthstream.

Registration includes meals, breaks and handout materials.

Cancellation: Cancellation received 7 calendar days prior to program, can have the registration fee minus $20 administrative fee refunded. No refunds will be issued after the program begins.

Dress in layers to accommodate your comfort in the meeting room. Temperature is not controllable and sometimes is unpredictable.

FREE Parking is available in the Employee lot North of the Heart Institute building behind the parking ramp. Leave parking in the ramp for patients visiting physicians.

Intended Audience

Respiratory Care Practitioners, Nurses, and Allied Healthcare Practitioners who provide care to the pulmonary patient.


To provide healthcare professionals the pathway/ability to expand their awareness in the ever-changing field of Pulmonary Care.


  1. Describe symptoms, signs for lung cancer; diagnostic work-up, evaluation of preop lung function, indications & techniques for operation and postop care.
  2. Determine when patient is appropriate for mobilization in the intensive care unit
  3. Identify indicators of adverse responses to mobilization.
  4. Review the basics of oxygenation and hypoxemia.
  5. Describe ways to improve oxygenation using different modes and settings of mechanical ventilation.
  6. Describe adjuncts to mechanical ventilation that can be used to improve oxygenation.
  7. Discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the respiratory care workforce of the future.
  8. Define the term "Adverse Event" in relation to the healthcare environment.
  9. Review the Joint Commission requirements for reporting and responding to adverse events.
  10. Describe the ethical dilemma(s) involved in reporting adverse events and the possible outcomes of reporting or not reporting events.
