Medicine excites me and I want to be able to share what I've learned with my patients in hopes that they will want to be engaged and actively participate in maintaining or improving their health. I want to help people want to take care of themselves.
I love to learn, and there is an overwhelming amount of medicine to understand. As I've progressed through my years of medical school and clinical training, I am most passionate about being able to not only treat patients, but more importantly educate them so they can be knowledgeable about the healthcare they are receiving.
I chose family medicine because it will allow me to practice the full scope of medicine. A few areas of interest include preventative medicine, pediatrics and women's health.
I grew up in the small town of Pella, Iowa. I completed my undergrad at the University of Iowa and went to Des Moines University for medical school. I have a large family so whiffle ball and card games were regular occurrences. I love to be active and enjoy playing softball and volleyball. I also enjoy baking and experimenting with new foods.
