I'm passionate about what I do because I care about people. I strive to help patients because, often, they are vulnerable in the hospital and are looking toward healthcare providers for care and comfort. If I can make their hospital stay a little less scary, less complicated, and feel like they have a say in their treatment, then I feel like I'm making a difference.

My philosophy of care is to treat my patients like I would want my family treated. My family, like many others, do not have much medical knowledge; therefore, it is hard for them to understand what is going on when a loved one is in the hospital or under medical supervision. The Nursing role really pushed me into better explaining and relating to my patients. My Nurse Practitioner role has helped me bridge the gap on what is realistic for each individual patient when it comes to medical management and treatment.

Areas Of Interest

My areas of interest are anything to do with the heart. Cardiac medicine, interventions, and surgery are all areas that fascinate me. I'm currently in cardiac surgery, and to be able to physically look at the heart, where the incisions are made, or fix blockages all help me better understand the management that follows through surgery.

I grew up in the davenport area and recently moved back to be closer to family, while my husband and I grow ours. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and friends. My husband and I like to get outdoors; walking, biking and playing with our daughter. My free time usually consists of home duties and playing with my daughter. With an infant, it is hard to have uninterrupted quality time with friends and my husband, so that is important to me to fit into my time as well.
