Genesis To Invest Nearly $140 Million Toward Future Of Region’s Healthcare

Genesis Health System announced plans for $138.5 million in new construction and renovation to Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

Doug Cropper, president and CEO of Genesis Health System, said the 203,000 square feet of new construction and 115,000 square feet of renovation of Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, will position Genesis for technological advances and the changing needs and expectations of patients.

Project Highlights

Highlights of the project will be the construction of a seven-story tower at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, and renovation and relocation of existing departments, which will be relocated to create space for the new tower.

Within the tower will be 12 new surgical suites, three new floors of inpatient beds – a total of 64 beds now and additional space for 32 beds in the future – and an expanded emergency department.  All surgery at GMC, Davenport will be centralized at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street.

Services remaining at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, will include inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services; inpatient and outpatient behavioral health; Genesis Cancer Care Institute; Genesis Wound and Hyperbaric Institute; emergency department; sleep disorders; outpatient diagnostic imaging; pharmacy; and, offices and services in the two existing medical office pavilions.

Project Partners

Estes-Dunn, a joint venture, is the construction manager.  Flad Architects of Madison, Wis., is the design firm.  KJWW Engineering of Rock Island is the engineering firm. Conceptual Designs, Inc., Bettendorf, is assisting with interior design. Joye Kuehn of Chubur Consultants, Madison, Wis., is advising Genesis on logistics.

The project will be an IMPACT project providing jobs for hundreds of skilled laborers from the region for the next four years.
