Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) Mortality

Inpatient Operative Mortality - Mortality is the most important measure in clinical outcomes. Inpatient Operative Mortality is the risk-adjusted percent of patients who die in the hospital after CABG surgery. We are better than the STS average.

Deep Sternal Wound Infection - Deep sternal wound infections can be a devastating complication of Coronary Artery Bypass (CAB) surgery. We at Genesis have 0.0%  Deep Sternal Wound Infection rate for the last four years. This is better than the national STS average.

Internal Mammary Artery (IMA) Grafts - IMA’s have been shown to be superior in long-term patency rates, compared to other bypass grafts.  Our use of IMA’s exceeds national averages as reported by the STS.

Preoperative Beta Blocker (BB) - Beta blockers have been proven to increase survival in cardiac patients.  Our use of BB’s again exceeds the national averages.

CABG Off-Pump Surgery – Off-pump surgery may reduce the complications that can arise from using the heart-lung machine, such as intraoperative bleeding (and the need for a blood transfusion), renal complications, postoperative neurological deficits (problems after surgery), and lengthy hospital stays.  At Genesis we exceed the STS national average.
