DineWell is an initiative to help people change or adjust their habits with food. With a growing national obesity rate, being an actively informed food consumer is more important than ever.
Nationwide efforts are developing to help people combat unhealthy lifestyles that often lead to obesity and other preventable diseases. In 2010, First Lady Michelle Obama launched the Let’s Move campaign, an initiative to end childhood obesity in the United States. Just this year the Food and Drug Administration took a pivotal step by announcing its plan to eliminate the use of trans fat and hydrogenated oils in the American food industry.
Genesis will also be doing its part in the effort to promote healthy eating by giving Quad Citians the most powerful tool of all: knowledge.
Genesis has worked with its dieticians to establish a healthy eating code. Like badges, local restaurants will be awarded hearts based on the menu items they have available. The purpose of this code is not to rate or judge restaurants, but to encourage restaurants to serve food that enhances the health and wellness of local Quad Citians.
Genesis understands that eating right can sometimes seem difficult. But that doesn’t mean you should give up. DineWell is here to provide you with all the information you need to make the right decisions about the food you are putting into your body.
