Physical Rehabilitation at Jackson County Regional Health Center

Welcome to Physical Rehabilitation at Jackson County Regional Health Center (JCRHC). Our goal is to provide one on one individualized care to improve the functional level of each patient. The facility offers a convenient location, ample parking, and is handicapped-accessible. In addition, this facility has a state of the art fitness center available to patients, staff, and the community.

One on One Individualized Care

We specialize in offering programs that meet the needs of patients requiring:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech therapy

We provide therapy in many settings, including:

  • Outpatient
  • Inpatient
  • Skilled Care
  • Home Health


Outpatient therapy is available for patients who have moderate to severe physical limitations and who can travel to receive care. We provide treatments for:

  • Back pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Pain from motor vehicle accidents or other trauma
  • Cumulative trauma disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Hand injuries, surgeries or splinting needs
  • Joint replacement and revisions
  • Nerve injuries
  • Neurological disorders
  • Soft tissue disorders
  • Vestibular disorders (Dizziness)
  • Speech disorders

Meet Our Team

All of the services are provided by highly educated physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapy assistants and speech therapists. Barbara Burmeister, RN, CCRP, BSN

Rehab Manager

School and year of Graduation: Mount Mercy College, 1980.

Began at JCRHC: June, 1980

Specialization/ Certifications:  Barb has worked as Cardiac Rehab Coordinator since 1988. She began the Pulmonary rehab program in 1992. Past president and current board member of the Iowa Association of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. Member of American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. (AACVPR) Certified by AACVPR as CCRP. (Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional) ACLS, PALS Utilization Review coordinator

Barb has worked in many areas of the nursing and rehab services department over the years of employment.

Community/ Recreation Activities:  Barb is an EMT on The Lost Nation Rescue Squad.  She has many hobbies including taking care of the grandkids, following sports, sewing, crafting, gardening and participating in church and family activities.

Community/Recreation Activities: In her free time, Cindy enjoys 4-H activities, watching Big 10 football and basketball, cross-stitching, and spending time with her 5 grandkids.

Sloan Dow, DPT

Physical Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: Saint Ambrose University 2011, DPT

Began at JCRHC: 2012

Specialization/Certification: Sloan specializes in treatment of general orthopedics and general neurological conditions. She has taken additional coursework in PNF, functional manual therapy, and therapeutic taping. 

Community/Recreation Activities: In her free time, Sloan enjoys running, playing ultimate frisbee, square dancing with her husband and working on her family’s farm. Sloan grew up in Maquoketa and graduated from Maquoketa Community High School and enjoys working in her hometown.

Physical Therapist Assistant

School and Year of Graduation: Kirkwood Community College, 2011

Began at JCRHC: October, 2011

Specialization/Certification: Liz has provided treatment for patients in various settings to include: Inpatient, Home Health, assists with Cardiac Rehab and Outpatient. Liz has continuing education in PNF through the IPA as well as Therapeutic-Taping Techniques, and wants to become a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner. Liz is able to work with a variety of diagnoses. 

Community/Recreation Activities: In her free time, Liz enjoys running, Abdominal Strengthening, reading, listening to country music, photography, making her own organic gourmet baby food and spending time with her husband and children.

De Anna Dickerson, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

School and Year of Graduation: St. Ambrose University, 1992

Began at JCRHC: February, 2014

Specialization/Certification: De provides treatment for patients in various settings, including inpatient, skilled care, outpatient, and home health. She has worked at both the therapist level as well as being rehab manager. De has presented continuing education to therapists and other professionals on the topics of wrist and hand injuries, fall prevention, and ergonomics in the workplace. De enjoys providing wellness talks for seniors on the topics of urinary incontinence, the benefits of exercise, joint protection, and home safety. De is able to work with a variety of diagnoses.

Community/Recreation Activities: In her free time, De enjoys attending smooth jazz concerts with her husband, vacationing on Lake Michigan, reading, strength training, and Zumba.
