13th Annual Komen Quad Cities Race For The Cure® Results
Sunshine and warm weather greeted 8746 participants in downtown Moline on June 8 for the 2002 Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure®. 7050 participated in the 5K Run/Walk and more than 1670 in the 1 Mile walk/run.
Funds raised at this year's event will benefit breast cancer education, early detection and national research efforts, plus mammography and breast prosthesis vouchers for underserved women. Since beginning in 1990, the Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure® has raised more than $2.1-million dollars. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised stay in our service area.
"The community, Floreciente neighborhood and downtown Moline merchants have really stepped forward and embraced this race, and for that we are very grateful," said Amy Bush, 2002 Race Co-Chair. "We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, June 14, 2003 for the 14th Annual Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure®."
