Genesis Auxiliary Surpasses Donation Timeline
Auxiliary Helps Bring State-of-the-Art Technology to GMC Operating Rooms
The Auxiliary's commitment to bring the voice-controlled HERMES system that gives Genesis Medical Center surgeons immediate access and control to operating room medical equipment is complete a year to a year-and-a-half ahead of schedule.
The Genesis Medical Center Auxiliary will present their $604,000 donation during their annual Luncheon on Wednesday, July 17, at 11:30 a.m., at the Outing Club, 2109 N. Brady Street, Davenport.
The Auxiliary committed to this project in July of 2000. At the time they anticipated it would take three to three-and-a-half years to raise the money. Now, two-years later their hard work has paid off. The money comes from gift shop sales, their annual style show and jewelry sale.
"We're very grateful to the Auxiliary for their continuing commitment to Genesis Medical Center," says Jim Berg, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "The Auxiliary generates thousands of dollars for hospital projects. They work hard to make Genesis a caring, welcoming place and are our partners as we undertake the very important work of helping others."
Future plans include integrating more operating room tools, such as booms and robotic arms that will turn our operating rooms into laparoscopic specialty rooms.
