Genesis Helps Cancer Patients And Survivors Seek Answers

What is cancer? What is radiation therapy and how does it work? How can I best communicate with my doctor and nurse? Those are just a few of the many questions cancer experts at the Genesis Regional Cancer Center address on a daily basis.

In an effort to help cancer patients, survivors and their family members better understand this disease the Cancer Center is offering a new education program called Support, Education, Empowerment, Knowledge (SEEK). Classes will help provide information on what cancer is and its effects, healthy ways to manage side effects and also provide a better understanding to what complementary health care is and how it can enhance medical care. Participants will also learn about resources available both in and out of the community.

SEEK classes will be taught by oncology registered nurses, medical social workers and clinical dietitians at Genesis Medical Center. They will be held from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., in the Cancer Conference Room at Genesis Medical Center's West campus, 1401 W. Central Park, Davenport, on the following dates:

Tuesdays: January 10, February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12.

The cost of the class is free and includes lunch but space is limited. For more information or to register call Genesis On Call at 421-2000 or 1-800-383-2575.
