Genesis Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Recertified

Genesis Medical Center has been awarded Program Certification for its Cardiac Rehabilitation Program by the American association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Certification recognizes those programs rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet the outlined essential requirements for standards of care.

Cardiac rehabilitation programs are designed to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiac illness; reduce the risk for sudden death or relapse; control cardiac symptoms; stabilize and/or improve the patient's condition; and enhance the patient's quality of life.

"Certification is essential for providing the community with good information so that they can make informed decisions for their own health care," says Charlette Evans, Manager, Genesis Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, "We are happy to participate in this process and feel it helps us to educate our patients." The program was one of the first to be awarded certification three years ago and is now among the first group of programs to be recertified. Genesis Medical Center offers inpatient and outpatient programs (phases I-IV). The inpatient program is in its 29th year and outpatient programs are in their 18th (phase II) and 16th years (phase III-IV).

The AACVPR is a national, mutli-disciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry, and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve.
