Cardiology Clinic Opens In Galesburg
Genesis Heart Institute Teams Up with Galesburg Cottage Hospital
Genesis Heart Institute and Galesburg Cottage Hospital are expanding heart care services in West Central Illinois with a new cardiology clinic. The clinic will be housed in Cottage Medical Plaza and will be staffed by heart specialists from Cardiovascular Medicine, P.C. (CVMed), two days per week beginning today. CVMed physicians are members of the Genesis Heart Institute.
"We've reached an agreement with Genesis Heart Institute in order to expand our services," says Dennis Renander, CEO, Galesburg Cottage Hospital. "This agreement is a critical step in strengthening our growing cardiac program."
A solid foundation of medical specialists is a key to this expansion. Galesburg Cottage Hospital selected Genesis Heart Institute, located in the Quad Cities, as a partner because of the Institute's commitment to support and develop a cardiology program in West Central Illinois and in the Galesburg area. The regional strength of Institute member, CVMed, also played a major role in this partnership.
"We're looking forward to enhancing Cottage's cardiac program," says Steven J. Fish, Executive Director, Genesis Heart Institute. "The first step is a new cardiac clinic and the recruitment of a cardiologist who will live and practice in Galesburg. Our long term goal is to assist the hospital and its medical staff in the development and expansion of their cardiac program."
Until a physician is recruited, CVMed physicians William Witcik, M.D., Vijay Rajendran, M.D., J. Randolph Lewis, M.D. and Eric Dippel, M.D. will meet with patients on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. The clinic will offer diagnostic evaluations and specialized consultations for patients with heart problems.
