Lifesource: Creating Balance For Mind-Body-Spirit
Genesis And Gilda's Club Host A Day Of Healing
Genesis Medical Center and Gilda's Club are offering opportunities for survivors of cancer and other chronic illnesses along with their loved ones to spend the day participating in holistic therapy and relaxation. These healing sessions include yoga, music therapy, imagery, craft making, nature walks, a comedy show, chi gung, and art therapy. A continental breakfast will start the day and lunch and refreshment breaks will be scheduled throughout the event.
"Healing is a process felt and experienced by the mind, body and spirit. It focuses on the whole person. The Anglo-Saxon word for healing is HAELEN, meaning to be sound, healthy or to restore health," says Pat Christy, RN, Cancer Program Manager, Genesis Medical Center and event organizer. "Although a cure may not always be possible, healing can help return survivors and their loved ones to a higher quality of life."
The Lifesource: Creating Balance for Mind-Body-Spirit program will be held on Saturday, September 14, at the Grace Lutheran Church Camp in DeWitt, Iowa, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. For registration information and/or driving directions to the camp, contact Terry Pool at the Genesis Cancer Center, at 563-421-1909. The event is for adults only and costs $20.00 for the day, which includes lunch, and refreshment breaks.
This day of healing is part of Genesis Cancer Center's commitment to mind, body and spiritual health. For information on other Genesis Cancer Programs please contact Pat Christy at 563-421-1905.
