Genesis Celebrates PT Month By Thanking Our Heroes

Genesis Medical Center's Physical Therapy department will offer free massages to staff of MEDIC as a part of Physical Therapy Month. The massages are a way for the Physician Therapists to say thank you to our heroes, while showing the benefits of massage.

"National Physical Therapy Month is the perfect time to educate the public about the role our profession plays, not only in Rehabilitation, but in Wellness. Therapeutic Massage is a very effective treatment modality for relieving and preventing pain commonly caused by increased muscle tension due to stress and poor body mechanics. Another contributing cause is maintenance of one body position, such as sitting or standing, for extended periods of time," comments Carol Rehder, Manager Genesis Physical Therapy department.

Rehder adds, "Knowing that these can at times be factors in the daily routine of MEDIC staff, our Physical Therapy staff saw an opportunity to help "Our Heroes" feel better and at the same time show our appreciation for the wonderful contribution they make to Genesis Medical Center and our community."

The massages will take place at MEDIC, Genesis East Campus garage on Thursday, October 10 from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Massage chairs will be provided courtesy of "Institute of Therapeutic Massage & Wellness."

This year's National Physical Therapy Month theme - "Connect With Physical Therapy" - reflects America Physical Therapy Association's goal of educating members of the public about how they can improve their lives by connecting with physical therapy. Physical therapy practitioners across the country are hosting community events, volunteering, and finding other creative ways to raise awareness of physical therapy. 

Genesis Physical Therapists will be giving hands on thanks to MEDIC staff, as a part of helping our communities "connect" with physical therapy!
