Berg Named As New CEO For Indiana Health Care System

DJim Bergavenport, IA - Jim Berg, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Genesis Medical Center, has accepted the President and Chief Executive Officer's (CEO) position with Methodist Hospitals, Inc. in Northwest Indiana.

Berg has served as the Medical Center's COO since the 1994 consolidation of St. Luke's and Mercy hospitals. Prior to the consolidation, he had been President and CEO for Mercy. He has also held various executive positions with health care organizations in St. Louis, Utah and Kansas. He is also a retired Lt. Colonel, US Air Force Reserve, Medical Service Corp.

"As Executive Vice President/COO for Genesis Medical Center and Vice President for Genesis Health System, he has always been a great champion of this organization, held a deep appreciation for its rich heritage and brought a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to every task."

As President and CEO of Methodist Health System, Berg will oversee an integrated, community, not-for-profit, health care system operating two full-service hospital campuses with a combined 714 beds. The system also includes a primary care network, home health, joint ventures, family practice residency program and a variety of specialized outpatient services at multiple sites throughout Northwest Indiana.

Berg's last day at Genesis Medical Center will be July 3.
