Genesis Center For Breast Health Names New Clinical Medical DirectorCenter For Breast Health

Davenport, IA - Joseph L. Lohmuller, M.D., Davenport Surgical Group, P.C., has been named clinical medical director of the Center for Breast Health at Genesis Medical Center. In his role as clinical medical director, Dr. Lohmuller will help build upon a program which includes clinical exams by surgeons who specialize in breast care. He has been a member of the center's physician advisory committee since 1994 and succeeds Daniel Congreve, M.D, who retired in July.

Joseph L. Lohmuller, M.D.Dr. Lohmuller is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He received a masters of science degree in medical genetics and a medical degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis, graduating with surgical honors and academic achievement awards. He completed his residency in general surgery from Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minnesota.

He has practiced at Genesis Medical Center since 1991, and also serves as medical director for Trauma Services. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa School of Medicine. In 2001, he received an award from the State of Iowa for his work towards traffic safety and injury prevention.

Genesis Medical Center unveiled earlier this year a $1 million expansion of the Center for Breast Health. The center serves more than 6,800 women in the region each year.  As the area's only comprehensive breast health care center, it offers specialized care including surgical consultation and imaging services. The center offers state-of-the-art mammography equipment, a new bone densitometer, a lymphedema program, private waiting rooms, a breast ultrasound room and a breast biopsy room.
