Best Care/Disease Management Site
GHS Website Receives National Recognition
Davenport, IA - The Genesis Health System (GHS) website, www.genesishealth.com, received top honors at the 2003 eHealthcare Leadership Awards during the Healthcare Internet and Technology Conference in Phoenix, Arizona last month.
The Genesis site was selected from nearly 1,200 entries and won a Gold Award for Best Care/Disease Management Site for the My e-health feature. My e-health allows individuals to create and maintain an online record of health information for themselves and their family members. "This personal health record provides a useful online repository for detailed information about immunizations, allergies, medications, medical tests, surgeries and more," says Jen Meier, GHS Web Developer. "Our website also features disease management modules, which allow users to monitor specific conditions such as diabetes." Users may also choose to participate and receive an immediate health risk assessment after taking one of two online assessments.
The GHS website was redesigned at the beginning of the year and also features e-mail a patient, class registration, photos of babies born at Genesis Medical Center or Illini Hospital or on-line job applications.
The site, designed by Geonetric of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, also won "Best Site Structure & Navigation" and a "Gold Award" for "Miscellaneous/Professional Web site" at the 2003 World Wide Web Health Awards in July. The recognition was organized by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearing house for consumer health information programs and materials.
"These awards represent the hard work and dedication of our website committee members," said Leo Bressanelli, CEO of Genesis Health System. "It is their commitment to providing quality health care to all those in need that makes our website one of the best in the country."
