Genesis Foundation Sponsors Annual Golf ChallengeGenesis Health Servies Foundation Golf Challenge

Davenport, IA - The Genesis Health Services Foundation will present its 2003 Golf Challenge, Monday, September 22, at Crow Valley Golf Club in Davenport. Shotgun starts are set for 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Reservations for the event are $225 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf and greens fees, cart, breakfast or lunch, course refreshments, entry gift and evening buffet. Golf Challenge proceeds benefit Genesis Medical Center patients and families. Foundation funds provide health care equipment, programs and services. This charity golf event has provided significant funding for the Genesis Medical Center dialysis unit, the VNA Health Ministry Nursing program, Rick's House of Hope, a pulse oximeter for the Bennett Volunteer Ambulance Services, the First Steps Program at Lutheran Social Services of Iowa, physician and staff education, and eyeglasses, prescriptions and medical equipment for the medically underserved.

Event-day registration at Crow Valley begins at 6 a.m. for the morning shotgun and 11:30 a.m. for the afternoon shotgun. All par three holes will feature hole-in-one contests for cash and prizes, including a Lexus GX 470 sport utility vehicle donated by Lujack Lexus of the Quad Cities. In addition, golfers who purchase mulligans are automatically entered into a drawing for a $2,500 Gateway Inc., Tablet PC. After the tournament, participants are invited to the practice putting green to cheer on the lucky finalists in the 10k Putt Contest. The golfer who sinks a 50-foot putt wins $10,000. Following the contest, participants are invited into the clubhouse for a buffet and awards presentation.

Lujack Lexus of the Quad Cities is the Tournament Sponsor for this year's event. The Challenge is part of the Lexus Champions for Charity, a unique series of 190 golf tournaments throughout the United States.

Chairman of the 2003 Golf Challenge Committee is Robert Lindsay. The committee is co-chaired by Fritz Swearingen, D.O. Volunteer Coordinators are Phyllis Hougham and Barb Shinbori.
