Bettendorf Physician Named Iowa Family Physician Of The Year
Bettendorf, IA - Genesis Health System would like to congratulate Michael Gimbel, II, M.D. on being named the 2003 Iowa Family Physician of the Year by the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Gimbel, a member of Bettendorf Medical Center, P.C., whose office is located in the Genesis Medical Park on Devils Glen Road, received the recognition late last month for being an outstanding physician who exemplifies the tradition of the family doctor and who epitomizes the finest standards of family health care. The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians received letters from Dr. Gimbel's patients and colleagues who state, "He is a very intelligent, caring, compassionate physician. He has a very busy office and hospital practice and not infrequently is stopping by a nursing home or making a home visit as he is heading home from the office or hospital. He has outstanding clinical skills and knowledge and is highly respected in the community."
As the Iowa Family Physician of the Year, Dr. Gimbel will become Iowa's nominee to the American Academy of Family Physicians for the 2004 National Family Physician of the Year.
Dr. Gimbel is a diplomat in the American Board of Family Physicians. He is a fellow with the American Academy of Family Physicians and an active member of the Iowa constituent chapter.
He attended St. Ambrose University, and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He interned and completed a family medicine residency at the San Bernardino County Medical Center in San Bernardino, CA before returning to Iowa.
The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians has more than 1500 members and is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, which is the largest medical specialty society in the United States with a membership of more than 86,000 family physicians, family practice residents and medical students.
