Cardiology At The Bix
Heart Specialists Combine Training with Bix Weekend Activities
Davenport, IA - Genesis is proud present the 14th Annual Cardiology at the Bix. The cardiovascular symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday, July 23, in the Mississippi Hall at the Davenport RiverCenter, 136 East Third Street. The event features a panel of nationally acclaimed physicians presenting a concise update on the ever-changing field of cardiovascular medicine.
Topics presented at this year's event include: the pros and cons of various new diets, recommended quantity of activity to promote good health, and carotid endarterectomy. Accredited speakers will include:
- Matthew J. Sorrentino, MD, FACC, Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Sorrentino will be speaking about "The Pros and Cons of the Various New Diets."
- Francis Roosevelt Gilliam, III, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine, Electrophysiology and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Section Chief at Duke University Medical Center. Gilliam will be speaking about "ICDs – Who Needs a Defibrillator?"
- Jean-Bernard Durand, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at The University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center, Medical Director of Cardiomyopathy Services and Director Cardiovascular Genetics Research. Durant will be speaking about "Up and Coming Interventions for Medical or Surgical Therapy for Congestive Heart Failure."
An outstanding line up of six speakers has been assembled to present updates on the ever-changing field of cardiovascular medicine along with the latest in diagnostics and treatment options.
