Silvis, IL - The Illinois Dietetic Association has named Donna Sivertsen, RD, LD, as the Outstanding Dietitian of Year. Sivertsen received the award, which recognizes her leadership, professional achievement, and dedicated service, this week in a special ceremony in Oak Brook.
Sivertsen has worked for Illini Hospital for 22 years in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and outpatient arena with the goal of providing compassionate and professional care to meet the health needs of all patients and families. She currently serves as the Clinical Nutrition Manager and Diabetes Care Center Coordinator at the hospital. Sivertsen also has a background as an educator and researcher at the University of Iowa working on the largest ever women's clinical trial the Women's Health Initiative.
"What a great privilege to work in the field of dietetics," says Sivertsen. "Every day, something new is evolving. I can honestly say after working over 25 years in the field, I am still learning. I have been blessed to work alongside outstanding co-workers at Illini Hospital and throughout Genesis Health System."
"Donna enhances the image of the RD (Registered Dietitian) as the nutrition expert," says Lisa Farley, Vice President of Patient Services at Illini Hospital. "She is an individual who does a lot of work without fanfare and with an attitude of service, an excellent role model for others."
Donna Sivertsen is an active member of the American & Illinois Dietetic Association, the Mississippi Valley Dietetic Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators, and former Moline Public School District Foundation Board Member. In addition to her work, Sivertsen has served with Bible Study Fellowship, Moms In Touch, and Young Life ministries to name a few.
