Dr. Artemio Cajigal Recognized For Contributions To Rural Health
Davenport, IA – Genesis Health Group physician Artemio Cajigal, M.D., was recently honored with the Rural Physician of Excellence Award in Illinois for his work to improve the health and well being of rural residents.
Dr. Cajigal, who practices and lives in Alpha, Ill., was one of 18 Illinois physicians who were recognized on Nov. 9 by the Illinois Rural Health Association.
Dr. Cajigal was nominated by Marty Carpnel of the Alwood Lions Club; Sharon Whitehead, School Health Aide with the Alwood School District; Ann Waters, R.N., and Mary Jo DeVrieze, day supervisor, Oak Glen Home.
Rural physicians in Illinois were recognized for their roles in community health, their care of seniors in nursing homes, making home visits when patients are too ill to travel and the mentoring of new physicians interested in rural health professions.
The Illinois Rural Health Association, Illinois Hospital Association, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and National Center for Rural Health Professions are sponsors of the program.
