Genesis Web Site Earns National RecognitioneHealthcare Leadership Awards 2005

Davenport, IA – The Genesis Health System web site (www.genesishealth.com) has received national recognition for the third consecutive year in the annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards.

Genesishealth.com received a gold award in the healthcare system division for Best Interactive Site and a silver award for Best Overall Internet Site in the healthcare system division.

In 2004, the Genesis Health System Web site won a silver award for its My e-health feature, an interactive feature which allows patients to track their family medical history online.

Other interactive features at www.genesishealth.com are:

  • Gift shop and durable medical equipment store.
  • Two blogs featuring bariatric surgery patients.
  • Virtual tours of 18 Genesis Health System sites, including the four hospital campuses.
  • Email for patients.

Healthcare Web sites receiving the 2005 awards were selected from more than 1,200 entries.

“The huge number of entries and winners clearly indicates that interest in e-health care and technology continues to expand,’’ said Mark Gothberg, eHealthcare Leadership Awards chairman. “Leading-edge healthcare organizations are place a great deal of focus on Web features that support key service areas.

“Healthcare organizations are continuing to put more emphasis on e-business functions. This is evident in Web sites’ focus on employee recruitment, class and event registration, physician referral and appointment scheduling, and even patient billing.’’

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program was developed and first presented six years ago by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, a leading Internet resource published by Health Care Communications, Rye, N.Y.
