Genesis Occupational Health, YMCAs Sponsor Employee Fitness Walk
Davenport, IA – Employees who spend most of their work day at a desk will have an excuse on Wednesday to get outside for a stroll and represent their company at the same time.
The Quad City YMCAs and Genesis Occupational Health are sponsoring wellness walks on both sides of the river to recognize National Employee Fitness Day. Companies with the highest percentage of participation will be eligible for awards.
Participants can choose either Moline’s Ben Butterworth Parkway or Davenport’s walk along the river. The one-mile walks will start from the shelter in the park next to the Case plant in Moline and from the shelter in Centennial Park in Davenport.
Participants can walk any time from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Employees will sign in as representatives of their employer, will sign a participation waiver, receive a packet of information about exercise and health issues and receive a water bottle.
The goal is participation. No time or distance will be recorded.
In the event of rain, the walk will be held at the Two Rivers YMCA, 2040 53rd St., Moline and Scott County Family YMCA, 606 W. 2nd St., Davenport.
Contact Jill Garvin, Two Rivers YMCA Wellness Director, for further information and registration. Garvin can be reached at 309-797-3945 or jgarvin@tworiversymca.org.
