Genesis Employees Put Food On Pantry Shelves
Davenport, IA – The shelves of food pantries in the Quad Cities will be restocked for the summer months through the efforts of Genesis Health System employees.
This year’s food drive will start April 18 and continue through May 12. Collection sites will be Genesis Health System locations. The public is invited to also make donations.
The Genesis “On The Road’’ bus will be parked at the designated locations for collection.
“Last year our goal was 10,000 items and we went well beyond that. We kept food in the pantries well into August,’’ said Pat Christy, Program Manager of the Genesis Cancer Center and one of the volunteer coordinators.
Items needed most by the food pantries include, soup, spaghetti sauce, noodles, juices in plastic containers, canned meats, pork and beans, canned fruit, canned milk, canned or instant potatoes and Sloppy Joe mix. Cash donations will also be accepted.
Checks should be made payable to Churches United Food Pantry Fund.
