Dr. Rob Nelson Named Vice President of Clinical Services For GMC, Davenport
Davenport, IA - Genesis Health System President and CEO Leo Bressanelli announced today that Rob Nelson, M.D., will become Vice President of Clinical Services of Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, effective Sept. 12.
Dr. Nelson will continue as Director of Surgical Services for Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, until a new director is selected. Bressanelli said Dr. Nelson’s gradual transition into his new responsibilities will not disrupt the operation of surgical services for patients, physicians or staff.
“Since joining the Genesis organization, Dr. Nelson has demonstrated his leadership and ability through ongoing contributions to our success,’’ Bressanelli said. “I have come to value greatly his administrative skills and professionalism and I am confident he will continue to help this organization fulfill our mission to deliver compassionate, quality health services to all those in need.’’
Dr. Nelson has an broad background of clinical and administrative experience.
He is a 1976 graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he also completed his surgical residency. He was then recruited to the Wayne State faculty and began a 15-year career in surgical education in Detroit, Cleveland and Stockton, Calif.
Dr. Nelson held a number of administrative positions, including medical staff president and surgical department chairman. In 1996, he received a MBA from California State University. Before joining Genesis in 2003, Dr. Nelson was Medical Administrator for Perioperative Services at Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina.
