Genesis VNA To Continue To Provide Services For Scott County Residents

Davenport, IA – Genesis VNA will continue to provide skilled home care services and home care aide/homemaker services for Scott County residents under terms of a contract with the Scott County Board of Health.

Genesis VNA will receive $551,837 from July 1 until June 30, 2006 in state and county funds to provide home care services to clients who do not have coverage under Medicare, Medicaid or private health insurance. Genesis VNA will also provide health promotion home visits to Scott County residents.

Of the $551,837 Genesis will receive for submitting the accepted proposal, $426,837 is state funding. The remaining $125,000 is Scott County funding. The bid process determined the service provider for the next three years.

Larry Barker, Director of the Scott County Health Department, said the care provided by Genesis VNA, “fills in some of the gaps for people who need the care, but do not receive Medicare, Medicaid or other insurance benefits.’’

Barker said the amount of funding remained level compared to the present fiscal year.

The review committee of the Scott County Board of Health identified several strengths in the proposal of Genesis VNA, including, the comprehensive array of professionals in the organization, strong association with similar projects, a competitive cost per visit and a long-standing role in community health.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue this relationship with the Scott County Board of Health and Scott County residents,’’ said Denise Schrader, Director of Community and Provider Relations, Genesis VNA. “The primary purpose of this contract is to provide care to a person in their home to prevent institutionalization. Patients prefer to remain in their home rather than go to a hospital, or a nursing home.’’

Genesis VNA will serve an estimated 1,287 low income clients, 1,569 elderly, 5,099 clients needing assistance with lifestyle change and 3,034 disease and disability clients.
