Genesis Wellness Program Earns National Recognition
Davenport, IA – The WellPower Program of Genesis Health System has been recognized by Wellness Councils of America as a national leader in employee wellness.
WellPower has received a Bronze Award, which recognizes companies that have obtained strong senior level support, created integrated wellness teams, collected strategic organizational health data and are delivering tailored programs to meet their company’s needs.
The Genesis WellPower Program is an incentive plan for all employees and spouses. The year-long program introduces employees and spouses to health habits to improve their life. The program focuses on fitness, nutrition, education, mental health, spiritual health and health status improvement through participation in programs available at Genesis.
The Genesis WellPower Program screens participants and identifies health risks. Challenges are available to reduce these risks and gift cards are awarded quarterly based on the level of participation. Education is an important part of the program and includes group classes as well as on-line education. Dietitians have developed a year-long weight reduction program that is available to all employees. Employees are encouraged to participate in Genesis-sponsored events as a volunteer or participant.
"We’re pleased with the recognition of WellPower and the recognition of Genesis employees who have participated and benefited from the program,” said Janet Treftz-Allen, Manager of Health Promotion. “We have had some good success stories of employees who have made significant changes in their health habits.”
Approximately 20 percent of Genesis employees have participated or are now participating in the WellPower Program.
Genesis Occupational Health is now offering the successful WellPower Program to area employers. For further information about WellPower for businesses, call 563-324-0696.
