Genesis Presents Concert Featuring Cancer Survivor David Bailey
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Cancer survivor David Bailey now devotes his life to sharing his story of faith and passion through his music.
Bailey will be celebrating hope, comfort and kinship with survivors of cancer and their families in the Quad Cities at a free concert on May 10. The concert will be held at 6 p.m. at the River Music Experience in Davenport and is sponsored by the Genesis Cancer Center.
Free-will donations taken during the concert will benefit the annual Scott County Relay for Life sponsored by Genesis.
David Bailey has been referred to as a “prophet with a guitar,’’ and his songs have been called reminiscent of folk legends like James Taylor and Cat Stevens. His remarkable story of survival and his inspiring message through music has been featured on 60 Minutes on CBS, the Family Health Channel and National Public Radio.
Bailey, the son of Presbyterian missionaries, was diagnosed with a deadly brain tumor in July 1996. He was told that he would be dead within months. Rather than accepting the diagnosis, Bailey conducted his own research about treatment options and was able to find treatment and doctors who saved his life.
Nearly 10 years later, Bailey has since recorded 12 albums and has delivered his message in concerts all over the world.
In 2003, Bailey won the Kerrville NewFolk songwriting competition.
Seating for the concert will be limited and available by reservation by calling Genesis Cancer Guide at 563-421-1943. For more information about David Bailey, visit www.davidmbailey.com.
