Genesis VNA Will Host Healthy Living Expo In Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa –- Check your body mass index, learn your risk for stroke and have your bone density tested – all in one place and for free -- at the Healthy Living Expo on July 12 at the Evangelical Free Church in Clinton.

The expo, hosted by the Genesis VNA and Hospice in Clinton, will offer many free screenings, demonstrations and education for people of all ages from 7-11 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, located at 1010 13th Ave. N., in Clinton.

In addition to free body mass index and bone density tests and stroke risk assessments, other free screenings will include:

• Pulmonary lung function;
• Sleep apnea;
• Blood pressure; and,
• A reduced-cost screening for cholesterol, glucose and lipids will be $10, courtesy of the laboratory at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt. (Fast 12 hours before the blood draw.)

You can also learn more about Medicare Part D, childhood lead poisoning, diabetes, breast and cervical cancer, cardiovascular disease and the use of Reiki therapy to relieve stress and pain. Demonstrations will include home medical equipment, powered wheelchairs and the Lifeline Emergency Response System. 

“This will be a one-stop opportunity to learn, see demonstrations and get screened for a variety of health concerns,” said Denise Schrader, Director of Community and Provider Relations, Genesis VNA and Hospice. “As a local provider, we’re happy to offer this opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles to our community and neighbors in the Clinton area.”

The expo also will bring opportunities to win certificates for free foot care, food, gas and more. Free gift bags with safety and healthy living items, including a water bottle, and free activation coupons for Lifeline also will be given away.
