Genesis Voted Consumer Choice Award Winner For The Fifth Year
DAVENPORT, Iowa – For the fifth consecutive year, Quad-Cities health care consumers have chosen Genesis Medical Center as their most preferred hospital in the region.
Based on its independent study, National Research Corporation (NRC) has once again recognized Genesis as one of the nation’s top hospitals with the Consumer Choice Award. The award puts Genesis in the company of premier health care leaders, including the Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Medical Center, Massachusetts General and Johns Hopkins.
“This award recognizes the commitment and compassion our employees, physicians and volunteers provide to patients and visitors each day,’’ said Leo Bressanelli, President and CEO of Genesis Health System. “There is a choice of health care in the Quad Cities, and we are pleased that Genesis is that choice for superior quality. Health care consumers in the Quad Cities have made it clear for five years straight that they ‘Never Settle.’’’
Genesis’ leadership is evident in a wide range of areas, including the fact that it delivers the most babies in the region; leads the nation in heart attack response times; and offers a cancer program that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Genesis boasts the highest level trauma center in the Iowa Quad Cities, the busiest inpatient rehab unit in Iowa and a nationally recognized diabetes care center. It also is the only health system in the region to offer a dedicated Stroke Unit, laparoscopic bariatric surgery and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. In addition, Genesis’ commitment to information technology and electronic medical records has earned it the designation of 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems for three years in a row.
The Consumer Choice Award winners were determined by response to a sampling of more than 200,000 households representing 450,000 consumers in the United States. The information was compiled for the NRC Healthcare Market Guide, which is recognized as the nation’s most comprehensive consumer assessment of the health care industry.
No other study used to measure hospital performance and consumer preferences contains more responses than NRC's study.
"Consumers play an increasing role in selecting their health care facilities and services," NRC Chief Executive Officer Michael D. Hays said. "As more health care quality information is made publicly available, we expect this trend to increase. These organizations are selected for the Consumer Choice Awards by the community residents they serve. We are pleased to honor these facilities for their dedication to quality health care in the eyes of their patients."
Genesis Medical Center and its predecessors have provided compassionate, quality care to all those in need in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas for more than 135 years. Genesis brings together the skills and efforts of more than 600 physicians, 5,000 staff members and 1,000 volunteers.
