Genesis Wellness Center, Bettendorf Y Challenge Kids With Summer Classes
DAVENPORT, IA. – This summer the Genesis Wellness Center and Bettendorf Family Y will be offering the F.B.I. (Food and Body Interaction) Challenge together.
The camps will be held June 12-16 and July 31-August 4. Camp sessions will be 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day.
The spy-themed, high-energy week for children ages 7 through 12 will feature interactive adventure games, which involve problem solving, communication and cooperation skills. The kids will role play as detectives to carry out a mystery combined with a scavenger hunt. Time will also be spent exercising in the Genesis Wellness Center gym and campers will meet with a dietitian each day to go on a food adventure.
Jan Treftz-Allen, manager of Genesis Health Promotions, said the challenge is designed to help kids adopt a lifestyle of good nutrition and fitness. “This is a fun way for kids to experience exercise and healthy eating,’’ she said. “Kids know what to do to lead a healthy lifestyle. But they’re more motivated to live it after they taste healthier foods and exercise in a fun, active environment.’’
The cost will be $70 for YMCA members or $90 for non-YMCA members.
