Golfers Raise Record $86,000 For Aphasia Library

DAVENPORT, Iowa –  Golfers in the Genesis Health Services Foundation Golf Challenge have raised a record $86,000 to benefit individuals whose communication skills have been affected by stroke or other brain injury.

Proceeds from Genesis Health Services Foundation Golf Challenge were granted for a project called “Aphasia at Home: Health Literacy for Patients Families and Caregivers.’’  The aphasia materials, which include educational information and exercises and other tools for aphasia patients, are available through libraries in the Quad Cities.

A field of 220 golfers and 109 sponsors raised the record $86,000 on Sept. 11 at Davenport Country Club and Crow Valley Golf Club.

Lujack Lexus of the Quad Cities was the tournament sponsor.  The event was part of the Lexus Champions for Charity, a series of 190 golf events held throughout the country.
