Golfers Swing Into Action For Genesis Health Services Foundation

DAVENPORT, Iowa – A well-placed shot could send a golfer home from the Genesis Health Services Foundation Golf Challenge with a new Lexus GS 350 on Monday, Sept. 11. The Golf Challenge will benefit Genesis patients and families and health related community programs and services.

Golfers will have the opportunity to take home the Lexus by making a hole-in-one on a pre-selected par-3 hole at Crow Valley Country Club, Davenport Country Club or Pebble Creek Golf Course.

For the second year, Pebble Creek Golf Course will be available for golfers who are not be able to play 18 holes, but can enjoy an afternoon of nine holes.

Again this year, the Genesis Health Services Foundation Golf Challenge will be part of the Lexus Champions for Charity, a series of 190 golf events throughout the country. For the 9th year, Lujack Lexus of the Quad Cities is the title sponsor of the event.

One of the new highlights this year will be a clinic hosted by Curt Schnell, the head golf professional at Crow Valley. Schnell is a two-time PGA Teacher of the Year and has been nominated three times as a Top 100 teacher in the United States. Schnell will demonstrate the five most important fundamentals of the golf swing, along with a trick shot exhibition, at 11 a.m. on the Crow Valley driving range.

There will be afternoon shotgun starts at Crow Valley Golf Club (noon) and Davenport Country Club (12:30 p.m.). Tee time at the 9-hole Pebble Creek Golf Course will be 3 p.m.

Registration is $250 for golf at Crow Valley and Davenport Country Club, including cart and greens fees, lunch, course refreshments, entry gift, evening buffet and beverages. Registration is $125 at Pebble Creek, including cart and greens fees, course refreshments, entry gift, evening buffet and beverages.

The evening buffet and awards ceremony will be held at Davenport Country Club.

In addition to the hole-in-one contest to win a Lexus at each course, there will be a number of other hole games and prizes, including a $10,000 putting contest for a golfer who drops at 50-foot putt. The $10,000 putting contest will be sponsored by Manpower, a leader in the staffing industry.

There will be first, second and third place team awards, flighted prizes and special event prizes, including a wide-screen LCD monitor with speaker bar provided by Gateway. There will also be door prizes.

Women are invited to play and there will be special contests for women golfers.
