Genesis Hosts Holiday Grief Workshop

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Going through the holidays without a loved one can add stress to what should be an enjoyable season.

Genesis Medical Center will host a special workshop for those who want help or support with their grief during the holidays. “Living With The Holiday Blues’’ will be presented Monday, Nov. 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Borromeo Conference Center at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park.

Chaplain Carol Kelly will facilitate the holiday grief workshop. Former Genesis chaplain Marlin Whitmer, who founded the Befrienders program in Davenport, will be the featured speaker.

Chaplain Whitmer will help participants take a deeper look at the language used to express our feelings during the holidays. Practical suggestions for handling “the holiday blues” will be discussed.

There is no charge for the workshop. Registration is encouraged but not required to attend. To register, for further details or for directions to workshop location, call the Genesis Spiritual Care Department at (563) 421-7970.

The Genesis Spiritual Care Department also offers a grief recovery group that meets every other Monday, 6:30-8 p.m. throughout the year. Contact the Spiritual Care Department for additional information.
