Genesis Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Recertified
DAVENPORT, Iowa – The pulmonary rehabilitation program at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, which was the first Quad Cities program to earn national certification, has been recertified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
The comprehensive Genesis program was first certified in August 2003. The recent recertification will also be for a three-year period.
The Genesis program provides education, treatment and exercise for patients with lung disease on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
The Genesis pulmonary rehabilitation team includes respiratory therapy, dietitians, pharmacy, recreational therapy, occupational therapy and spiritual care. Akshay Mahadevia, M.D., is the medical director of the program.
People with lung disease can learn about all facets of the disease in the Genesis program. Patients are enrolled in a 24-session program combining education and exercise.
