Genesis Seminars Offer ABCs of Zzzzzz

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Sleepless in the Quad Cities? Sleep disorders can impact our lives at work, at play and at home.

The Genesis Sleep Centers, accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, are experts at diagnosing and treating sleep problems, including apnea and insomnia.  Those Genesis experts will be offering free sleep seminars on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Stephen Rasmus, M.D., will host the free sleep seminar on Nov. 14 at the Conference Center, Genesis Medical Center, W. Central Park.  Hours will be 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Akshay Mahadevia, M.D., will host a similar event at Crosstown Square, 900 Crosstown Ave., Silvis the following night.  Hours will be 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Space is limited. Pre-registration is requested and can be made by calling Genesis On Call at (563) 421-2000 or by registering online.

Genesis Sleep Centers are located at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus and Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.

The clinics use a multi-disciplinary approach to solve patients’ sleep problems. This means that all factors relating to a sleep disorder (like psychological and environmental effects) are taken into account. After a patient has been seen at a clinic, a team of professionals will review existing medical information and assess the sleep problem.

Specialized testing such as polysomnography, MSLT or MWT are available to assist in diagnosis.

Patients may self-refer or be referred by their family physicians to the sleep programs.
