Dr. Arnold Receives Certification in Wound Care
DAVENPORT, IOWA - David Arnold, D.O., FACOS, medical director for the Genesis Wound/Ostomy Clinic, has earned the professional designation of Certified Wound Specialist.
Certified Wound Specialists are an elite group of health-care professionals involved in wound management. The designation from the American Academy of Wound Management is an important accomplishment achieved through hours of hard work in preparation for the National Board Certification Examination for Wound Management Professionals.
Established in 1995, the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM) is dedicated to the multidisciplinary team approach in promoting the science of prevention, care and treatment of acute and chronic wounds. Currently, more than 2,700 individuals nationwide have the Certified Wound Specialists designation.
Dr. Arnold also is Board-Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and the American Board of Hyperbaric Medicine.
The Genesis Wound & Ostomy Clinic is dedicated to the management and care of problematic wounds and the ongoing care of ostomy patients. It uses a multidisciplinary approach to assist in the healing and rehabilitative process and provides assessment, evaluation and treatment recommendations for wounds and ostomies of all types. Patients also receive the expert support of nurses, most who are certified in wound/ostomy care.
Upon initial evaluation, a plan of care is developed for the patient. Consultation with other services or health care professionals may include the expertise of the primary care physician, endocrinologist, infectious disease expert, clinical nurse specialist, nutritionist, diabetes educator and home care nurse. A general or vascular surgeon, urologist, rehabilitation physician, an occupational or physical therapist, as well as social services, orthopedics and orthotic/prosthetic services may be utilized.
