Dr. Giudici Inducted Into Heart Rhythm Society
DAVENPORT, IOWA - Electrophysiologist Michael Giudici of Cardiovascular Medicine, P.C. is one of 50 heart rhythm specialists in the world to be inducted into fellowship of the Heart Rhythm Society this year. He is one of two physicians in Iowa to receive this honor.
The Heart Rhythm Society is an international membership organization of physicians, scientists and allied professionals dedicated to the study and the management of cardiac arrhythmias. Electrophysiologists are cardiologists who have received additional training in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
Dr. Giudici’s selection as a Fellow stems from his extensive contributions to the field of research and education.
“This honor isn’t for me alone, “ Dr. Giudici said. “It’s recognition of the entire team at Genesis and the quality of the facility and the work everyone does.”
He was inducted at the Society’s Annual Scientific Sessions, held every year in May.
Over the years, he has participated in the research and development of numerous devices and techniques using pacemakers; authored more than 160 articles and abstracts; and, has presented his research at national and international conferences.
In 2005, he was selected as one of the best physicians in the country by the group Best Doctors, a resource for patients, families and physicians seeking expert medical information. Only about 3-5 percent of specialists in the United States are identified as Best Doctors.
Over the past decade, he has led research on the optimal placement of right ventricular pacing leads to prevent the long-term decline in heart function that sometimes occurs with pacemakers and new pacing techniques to improve heart function. For several years, he has had the honor of presenting that research to international audiences at the European Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology in Nice, France. Last year, he performed a first-in-the-region cryoablation procedure to treat atrial fibrillation at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.
“It is an honor to be recognized by your peers, but the real importance to me is that this is a recognition of the quality of health care that is available throughout the Quad Cities,” he said.
