Genesis Offers Reduced-Cost Cholesterol And Diabetes Screenings
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The level of cholesterol in your blood can be a risk factor for heart disease. The higher your blood cholesterol level, the greater your risk for developing heart disease, or having a heart attack.
As part of National Heart Month in February, the labs of Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt, Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus and Metropolitan Medical Laboratory are offering reduced-cost comprehensive blood panel tests for cholesterol and lipids, and 12 other chemical tests.
The most accurate test to determine the cholesterol level is the "lipoprotein profile," which is done after fasting. Included in the 12 chemical tests is a blood sugar functions test for diabetes.
The February screenings will be held on Feb. 15 from 6-9 a.m. Cost is $20 (check or cash) at these locations:
-
Genesis Heart Institute, 1236 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport.
-
Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Larson Center, 855 Illini Drive, Silvis.
-
Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt, 1118 11th Street, DeWitt.
There will also be a screening on Feb. 28 from 7:30-10 a.m. at DeWitt Community Center, 822 6th Ave., DeWitt.
For most accurate results, do not eat 12 hours prior to the blood test. (It’s OK to take medication and water.)
Genesis VNA will also be checking blood pressures at all locations.
