DGreat American Sleep Challengereaming Of Better Sleep? National Sleep Foundation And Genesis Launch Online Campaign

DAVENPORT, Iowa –- The National Sleep Foundation and Genesis Medical Center have launched the American Sleep Challenge, a nationwide online campaign to focus attention on getting better sleep.

Through March 19, Americans who want to achieve better sleep and improve their overall well-being are encouraged to log on to www.sleepfoundation.org/challenge and sign up. Signup is simple. All of the tools, including a questionnaire to set desired sleep goals and a one-week, online journal are available. Once the Sleep Challenge is completed, participants will have the ability to assess their sleep needs and be one step closer to feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Nearly 70 million Americans experience sleep problems that impact relationships, health, productivity at work and even driving skills.

The consequences of not getting adequate sleep can be serious health complications.

The Great American Sleep Challenge is a promotion of National Sleep Awareness Week from March 5-7.  National Sleep Awareness Week leads up to the return to Daylight Saving Time when Americans effectively lose an hour of sleep.

The focal point of National Sleep Week will be the release of the annual Sleep In America poll, the only annual barometer of how Americans are sleeping.
