Genesis Teams Up For Family Day At Modern Woodmen Park

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Genesis Health System will team up with Big Brothers Big Sisters and MassMutual Financial Group for Family Day at Modern Woodmen Park on Sunday, August 3rd.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley provides a variety of opportunities to bring magic to the life of a child.  They are a regional non-profit organization that covers fourteen counties.  Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a wide variety of activities each month for mentors and children in their community-based programs and their staff will be available on August 3rd to expand on these opportunities and programs for those who are interested.

MassMutual is offering eligible families free $50,000 term life insurance policies under MassMutual’s philanthropic LifeBridge Free Life Insurance Program.  If an insured parent or legal guardian passes away during the 10-year term of the policy, Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) will put $50,000 into a trust to be used for the educational expenses of dependent children.

Genesis, which understands the importance of educational opportunities in building strong communities, will provide up to 500 free tickets to all families to attend the Quad City River Bandits game set for 5 p.m. Signup for LifeBridge is not required.

"At MassMutual, we are trying to ensure that access to educational opportunities exists for children of all working families,'' said John Budish, Sr. MSSW, a Quad Cities representative of MassMutual. "There is no cost involved for qualified families and we hope many families in the Quad Cities will take advantage of this program.''

To be eligible to apply for the LifeBridge program, applicants must be:

  •  Between the ages of 19 and 42
  •  The parent or legal guardian of one or more dependent children under age 18
  •  A permanent legal resident of the U.S.
  •  Currently employed full or part time with a total family income not less than $10,000 or more than $40,000
  • In good health as determined by MassMutual's underwriting standards

Sunday, Aug. 3 at Modern Woodmen Park will be Family Day, with representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters and MassMutual available from 3-5 p.m., followed by a Quad City River Bandits game set for 5 p.m.

At the LifeBridge signup, MassMutual agents will be available to assist with the application process and health professionals will be available to obtain blood and urine samples of applicants to confirm health status.  Also, applicants must bring proof of employment such as, payroll stub, w-2 or 2007’s tax return.  All information will be kept confidential.

The LifeBridge program began five years ago with a goal of issuing $1 billion in free life insurance from MassMutual.  To date, the program has issued more than 8,600 policies nationwide worth more than $430 million in free coverage.
