SQuad City Steamwheelersteamwheelers Helmet Auction Will Benefit Genesis Compassion Fund

DAVENPORT, Iowa – With a tip of their helmets, the Quad City Steamwheelers will end their regular season on Thursday, July 24 and also will be supporting the health care needs of many.

The Genesis Compassion Fund, which provides financial assistance to pay for items like medications and eyeglasses for seniors, and flu shots for school children, will receive the proceeds from a post-game helmet auction.

The Steamwheelers will close their regular season on Thursday at 7 p.m. against the Lexington Horsemen at iwireless Center.

Following the game, the Steamwheelers’ blue helmets, worn only for the season finale, will be auctioned.

“We appreciate the support of the Steamwheelers organization and their fans who will be bidding on the helmets.  The proceeds will enable Genesis to further serve the health needs of the communities we serve,” said Ken Croken, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing, Genesis Health System.

One of the ways the Genesis Compassion Fund makes a difference is by providing flu shots to elementary school children in Davenport.  By vaccinating children against the flu, the spread of the virus is slowed in schools, families and in the community. The Genesis Compassion Fund will again supply a grant to provide the flu shots later this year.
